Description

A blooming Haleakalā silversword (Argyroxiphium sandwicense subsp. macrocephalum) stands tall beneath a shimmering night sky. Endemic to the high elevations of Maui’s Haleakalā volcano, this rare and charismatic plant flowers only once in its lifetime before dying. Its silver hairs help it survive the harsh alpine conditions, and its night bloom glows like a beacon of resilience and wonder in the Hawaiian crater.
