Koʻoloaʻula Bloom (Abutilon menziesii)

Description

A close-up of Koʻoloaʻula (Abutilon menziesii), a federally endangered native Hawaiian plant in the hibiscus family. Once widespread across several Hawaiian islands, it now survives in only a few remnant dry forest and shrubland populations. This striking crimson bloom is part of ongoing conservation and cultivation efforts to preserve one of Hawaiʻi’s rarest native flowers.
