ʻIwa in Flight (Fregata minor)
Description
An ʻiwa (Fregata minor), or great frigatebird, soars with ease on outstretched wings. True masters of the sky, these seabirds can stay aloft for weeks, gliding on thermals with minimal effort—graceful, patient, and ever watchful for an easy meal. In Hawaiian culture, ʻiwa are infamous sky thieves, often harassing other birds midair to steal their catch.
