Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS Over Honokanai‘a – Kahoʻolawe, Hawaiʻi

Description

Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS (C/2023 A3) blazes over the southern coastline of Kahoʻolawe, as seen from Honokanaiʻa in October. A bright meteor arcs overhead, possibly part of the early Orionids or a sporadic fireball. The comet’s distinctive tail and the moonlit shoreline of the uninhabited island create a surreal convergence of sky and sea on this culturally sacred and ecologically recovering landscape.
